Part I: University of Virginia English Professor Patricia Spacks discusses her new book, bravely titled Boredom: A Literary History of a State of Mind.

Part II: Mark McCormick, a Virginia Commonwealth University psychiatrist and director of the Anxiety Disorder Clinic at the Medical College of Virginia, discusses his work helping people who suffer from everything from occasional shyness to downright panic in new social situations. He will offer coping strategies for those who fear the kindness of strangers.
