Centuries of violence, poverty, discrimination and conviction have forged the spirit and history of the two nations we call Ireland. How have these powerful factors influenced Irish politics amd culture? Historian Desmond Dinan of George Mason University joins Irish sociologist Kathleen Slevin of William & Mary; and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Paul Wagner, director of Out of Ireland, for a look at the still-troubled island and its people as they prepare to enter a new century with, for the first time, a promise of peace.
